I just had a root canal from my dentist, and my dad says that I should have had an endodontist do it. He says regular dentists don’t do them as well. But if they’re trained to do them I should be fine, right?

Some dentists have taken many courses and can do a root canal on teeth as good as an endodontist can. Most dentists are perfectly capable of doing root canals on easier straight forward cases and will refer to a specialist if it looks like the root canal may be to hard or beyond their capabilities. I’m sure your dentist thought he would be able to handle your case without a referral. Good luck with the tooth.

It not necessary an dentist can do a root canal. A endodontist is someone who is a specialist in root canal so does a dentist. You no need to worry, a good dentist is capable of doing root canal successfully and as good as a endodontist.
