its usually takes 2 weeks for a lab to make the crown. Unless your dental office has a machine in their office (that cost a fortune) that makes it in like 30 minutes. You can ask them to put a rush on it though. (we do it all the time)

There is no set time you have to wait to get the crown. Occasionally, a dentist will want to see that the symptoms you were experiencing have gone away, but it isn’t absolutely mandatory. You need to tell your dentist first thing when you get there – set up the appointment to prep the tooth for a crown. He has to send off the impression to the dental lab where they make the crown and will have ask them to rush the order. He may be able to get it done in time, but he should be able to tell you whether or not it will work ahead of time. The most important thing is that you get the crown. Having a root canal on a back tooth without getting a crown just sets yourself up for problems in the future (the filling will leak and allow bacteria into the root or the tooth could eventually fracture without a crown).
Good luck!
