I had one of my molar extracted last year and now I need a root canal on another molar – tomorrow, I am scared to death.
What is worse, extraction or root canal?
P.S Root canal is with an Endodontist, Specialist.

I’m glad you are seeing a endo specialist…because that is all they do…not that a dds can’t do a good job..but it’s better to go to a specialist in my opinion. If you have an infection, that would cause you not to get numb as well…because the body’s pH level is high and the locating would not respond as well….so i assume that if you had a bad tooth infection the dentist has put you on antibiotics first. My mom had a few root canals that had to be redone and she went to a specialist…and was happy she did. Don’t be scared….it’s better to take care of it now…..as you could get a serious infection that could spread throughout and effect your brain or heart. Not trying to scare you just take care of yourself now. Good luck….you will be fine.

I have had both. I believe there is a little more pain with extraction, but not by much. I have also had a root canal by a specialist and with a Root canal, you get to keep your molar but its a longer procedure. But what hurts the most is the price of service. That’s why I have this great plan that covers all my dental needs and has saved me thousands of dollars.

A root canal will hurt less, it’s longer though. I just had a root canal this afternoon. I have also had an extraction. I was numb for both, but the root canal hurt less after the numdness wore off. Hope this helps!

If they numb you properly it should’nt hurt at all, i found out the hard way that i have an immunity to the numbing agent they use so my root canal was extremely painful
