The original root canal was done over 5 years ago. The crown fell off recently while eating pancakes. I was told that there was a cavity under the porcelain crown that runs under the gum line, about 9 months ago. Could that be why the crown fell off? How is that going to be fixed? Will I have to pay for another root canal and crown? Would they pull it? I don’t know cause there is one tooth missing right above it. Any ideas?

I’m suprised the dentist didn’t fix it when they saw the cavity. An abscess can be dangerous. You’ll probably have to have another root canal and crown, or get it pulled if you absolutely can’t afford to have the root canal/crown.

I had this problem. The Dentist will fill the cavity and try to put the crown back on.If the root canal was done properly you don’t need another one.
