I am on antibotics and a painkiller. I have appointment next week to have it pulled. The painkiller only works for about an hour. Heat makes it feel better but will it increase the swelling?

Is it normal to get very swollen when you have an abscessed tooth? Also, is it normal to have a slight temperature (~101 F)? I went to the dentist on Thursday and am going to have a root canal soon but for now I’m on antibiotics and ibuprofen and my face is swollen and I have a temperature.
