I think I have an abscess tooth.
The pain started on the 22nd
At first I thought a wisdom tooth was pushing its way through because the gum behind my last molar on the left was sore. Then it became slightly inflamed both my parents said don’t worry let it do its thing.
Now its the 27th and my gum is so swollen I can’t close my teeth together so I can’t eat. Also if i press down on it, in between the tooth and the gum with a q-tip some pus comes out.
My dentist is closed till Jan. 2 I have called all surrounding dentist and none take my insurance. I am going to my doctor tomorrow to see if i can get any atibiotics. If not I will go to the hospital.
Does that sound abscess and what can i do to relieve this pain and swelling???

i went to the dentist toi have the tooth removed but they referred me to an oral surgeon for monday. they stardted me on antibioitcs but since having started the antibiotics the swelling has gotten pretty bad and is starting into my neck. its been 2 days now and it seems to be getting worse rather than better. is this something i should seek medical attention for or should i ride it out and wait till monday when i see the oral surgeon?

My gums and jaw are swollen and throbbing, burning at times and tingling. What’s really going on? Started taking Augmentin on yesterday morning after the Dentist appointment. How long, once again will it take for the big jaw syndrome to decrease. I know I should’ve taken care of this last year, but, the pain went away. It appears that my co-workers are also suffering with dental trauma. I say again, what’s really going on? My neck in some areas appear to be swollen and paining. I can’t hardly sleep at night. I’m tired of taking pain relievers, i.e tylenol, excedrin, advil, motrin and 800mg Ibuprofen. What does anyone suggest, reccommend or suggest the next action of mine to be?

I had it drained (gross) on Monday morning. It’s Wednesday now and it’s still pretty swollen and still hurts if I lay down more than 2 hours at a time. I really need some sleep! What should I do?

i had my tooth pulled monday..and my face is still a little swollen. how long does it usualy take before the swelling goes away ?

I seem to have thickening on and inside the cheek where I had a root canal done years ago. I don’t know if it was always like that, or if the root canal caused it. What do you think, and on what do you base your opinion?

It’s been 1 week since I took my boyfriend to the ER with an abscessed tooth, where they proceeded to open the abscess and drain it. They prescribed antibiotics and vicodin, which he has been taking religiously ( he’s down to 4 pills left), but his poor face is still horribly swollen- looks like he has a lemon stuffed in his cheek- and he still feels crappy. Should I take him back to the ER? Or is this normal?
