I had a root canal last Saturday. My tooth still hurts when I bite down on it. It seems like it shouldn’t hurt this long. How long should I expect pain in my tooth when I bite down?

I have a missing molar on both upper sides. In neither case is there enough bone for an implant, so bridges are needed – given my nocturnal grinding problems, I’ve been advised to get them sooner rather than later (bridges would also deal with my main sites of decay recurrence and filling dislodgment). I’m now in Argentina and able to get them done very cheaply, with a dentist I’m comfortable with. However, he plans to do root canal treatment on the teeth that will be the supports of the bridge; he says it’s for practical reasons, to facilitate the work overall. I’ve spoken to two dental surgeries back in Australia, and in both cases they say it is better to leave the support teeth alive (eg to avoid later brittleness), and only to do root canal if there is a problem with those teeth. Do you have any view as to whether it is indeed a bad idea to remove the nerves unnecessarily? Or is it a way of reducing the chance of future decay/pain problems in the teeth within the bridge? I have a 5 month old chihuahua and just this morning his tooth (one of the ‘fangs’) got caught in the stitching of the hem of my jeans and as he tried to move away it seems the very tip of it broke off. He doesnt appear to be in any pain or discomfort and it acting as normal but I can see the tip of the tooth is blunt.
He is due to lose these milk teeth in the next couple of months or so. Is it normal that the milk teeth can break like this? Should I be seeing a vet to have it pulled or am I best just to leave it as soon it will fall out and the adult tooth will come through?

I have an abscessed tooth. i been taking antibiotics and pain killers for the past day and a half or so. earlier i noticed some pus coming from near my tooth. i was just wondering if i have to be worried about getting some in my system and if puss keeps coming out.

I recently had a root canal and was told I would have to wait three weeks before getting things started with the crown. In the meantime while waiting for the first root canal to heal, I was told I would need a second root canal. Can I get things started with the first crown or should I wait until the second root canal heals and do both crown fittings at the same time?

It’s been 1 week since I took my boyfriend to the ER with an abscessed tooth, where they proceeded to open the abscess and drain it. They prescribed antibiotics and vicodin, which he has been taking religiously ( he’s down to 4 pills left), but his poor face is still horribly swollen- looks like he has a lemon stuffed in his cheek- and he still feels crappy. Should I take him back to the ER? Or is this normal?
