If for 3 years there is no pain only here & there like every 7 months & thats only for a few mins then is this infection serious? does it mean it hasnt spread to jaw or anywhere, can the dentist know where the infection has spread by an x-ray?

I have an OUTRAGEOUS pain in my tooth. Trying to go to dentist but I don’t have insurance, regardless, I was told by a dentist if it is a gum infection this is something you see a doctor for, not a dentist. So how do you tell if it is a toothache or a gum infection cause I cant take the pain its unbearable!!

Is it true that when you have a tooth infection where it has reached the the bone…after doing a root canal the infection can still be on the bone and it is up to your immune system and antibiotics to get rid of it? I thought the root canal would of gotten rid of the infection on the bone too? How does that work? HELP!

My fiancee is on antibiotics for an infection in teeth 30 and 31. (Back teeth, lower right jaw) He is on antibiotics. Last night (day 1 of the antibiotics) he noticed a bump on the gum (pretty high up) of one of his front teeth (not causing any pain). If this is an abscess, will the antibiotics treat it? Or should we take him back in? We plan on a consultation in a week or so (after he’s done with the meds) for the root canals.

This is when you are not able to afford to go to the Dentist and can follow instructions and care to fix yourself if you knew what to do? Please help I am in terrible pain, I know it is an abscessed tooth, I can see the puss inside the tissue and have released it before and felt lots better for many years without problems – only difference is this one isn’t busting on it’s own….Thanks for your Opinion of suggestions.

I have an abscessed tooth, it’s something I’ve been treating at home with different home remedies. I don’t have insurance and can’t afford to go to a dentist. I found a small bump behind my ear the other day. It’s somewhat squishy and painful to the touch. Could this be the infection growing, or another problem all together?
