I brush and floss regularly and am working seriously to reduce my intake of soda pop and sweets. How after only 6 weeks (last exam) can a tooth go from okay to needing a root canal in an emergency situation. How do I keep this from happening again? Besides the obvious pain, it cost me $1700.

It is just above the surface of the gum and i can feel the sharp edge to it. The tooth is still pretty sensitive. It hurts when I brush my teeth, or even put a little pressure on it with my tongue. I was wondering if this was normal. I guess I didn’t think that just a tiny bit of pressure from my tongue or brushing my teeth would cause pain. Also is it ok to floss right now?

Does anyone know how many appointments it might take before my tooth will be completely fixed? That is, before my tooth is completely bonded? (I am also 13, I don’t know if my age will affect the time/pain of the root canal.) Thank you!
