I Have An Untreated Abscessed Tooth, And Now My Chest Hurts?

So about two months ago I found out I had an abscessed tooth. I was in incredible pain, but after going on antibiotics felt fine in a week, but I didn’t have enough money to actually get a root canal. Now the pain is back, but not nearly as bad, and now I’m having pain in the middle of my chest, feel faint, and my ears are ringing. Could the two be related?

I knew a 12 year old kid who had an abscessed tooth. He developed an infection because his condition was untreated as well and he died. You need to get treatment ASAP. I’m a college student and when I have a medical problem, I go to the doctor anyway and I worry about paying later. Do not put this off any longer, you need to receive treatment for this immediately.

Calm down, and try not to panic (that will escalade your symptoms–picture a peaceful setting, and just try to go through the steps to get yourself “safe”). It doesn’t matter if they’re related or not. Go to an emergency room right now, they can’t deny you regardless of your insurance. (an urgent care center can)
As for not having the money to afford a root canal, Dentistry is a money-making business, (not concerned with maintaining as much as making money) as is the health care “industry” as they now call it.

Could be related. The infection could be getting worse.
If you can look inside where the tooth is. There may be a spot, like a dot or like when a pimple comes to a head. On the gum or gum line. Gently push on this and release the fluid in the gum, which is causing the abscess. DO NOT swallow it. Spit it out and rinse good with peroxide or Listerine. This will make it feel better and buy you some time so you can get to a dentist. But, if the other symptoms continue, see a doctor.

Yes it is possible that the abscessed tooth is causing your chest problem. You need to go back to the Dentist. If you do not have enough money for a root canal. Then have the tooth pulled. Because until you have a root canal or the tooth pulled it will keep getting abscessed. Plus I have been told it could led to blood poisoning if left untreated.

It sounds like you need to see an md asap. Poss. Emer room. Abscess is infection if it gets to far its life threatening.

Actually, they may be. Any untreated infection is not a good thing, but for some reason dental infections are worse. They can lead to blood infections, called sepsis, and also to infections of the sac around the heart, endocarditis, as well as bone infections. If you do suspect these are related to your tooth abscess, then you really must be checked out as soon as possible. Hopefully this will not be the case, but it is definitely better to be safe than sorry!

The infection may have spread to other parts of the body, take antibiotics.
