most dentists will not pull an abcessed tooth, they give you antibiotics to take care of the abcess and then pull the tooth.
the swelling from extraction can last up to a week, you can speed the process by appling an icepack to that side of your face for fifteen minutes every four hours or so.

There really isn’t an answer for you about the time it takes swelling to disappear. Some people get over it quickly and others seem to linger. Your dentist or oral surgeon can only give you an estimation of the time it would take. Perhaps your best bet would be to ask the dentist or oral surgeon what it is that you can do to speed up the healing process, for example, medications, ice packs (how long, etc.), rest, and so on.
