How Long Can You Wait Between Getting A Root Canal And Getting The Post And Crown?

My root canal cost 718 dollars. I had that done a few weeks ago. I still have to get a post and crown though which will cost me like 1300 dollars!! Can I wait awhile before taking that step or should I do it soon. The dentist said it could wait til I had the money…but he didn’t specify how long I could wait.

Don’t wait too long. Teeth that have Root Canals tend to become brittle and can break, causing other issues with the tooth. I would recommend you schedule for at least the post and core 8 weeks after the RCT, but not longer. The post and the core will at least help in maintaining the strength of the tooth. This will also buy you some time so you can pay for the crown. Ask the dentist when you go for the post, what is the maximum time he recommends for when to start the crown. At the same time, ask if you can pay as you go along so that it’s easier on your pocket. Best of luck to you!

they have hallowed out your tooth putting only a temp fill in there, the tooth will eventually break an be un save-able i would not wait longer then 2-4 weeks see if your dental provider will break up your payment crowns are always a two part procedure that requires two or sometimes three visits so you can pay each time you come in..

indefinitely actually. however if youve no tooth there ..the longer you wait, the more your other teeth will compensate and begin to separate to fill in that empty space.
