How Long Can I Expect This Root Canal Pain To Last For?

I had part 1 of a 3-appointment root canal procedure a couple of days ago.
The evening of the surgery I felt fine. Yesterday the nerve was a bit sensitive at times. And today it’s extremely painful, to the point that I have a lot of difficulty chewing food. Is this normal? And, can I expect this to subside prior to my second appointment next week, or do I have to wait until the entire root canal is complete to feel some relief?
Thanks.

First take some pain pills. Ibuprofen would be good. You may still have some infection present and the dentist may want to place you on some antibiotics at your next appointment. By the time of your last appointment, thing should be improving and not staying the same or getting worse. Good luck to you.

I’m sorry you are in such pain. When I had my root canal I didnt have any pain afterwards so I guess I’m lucky. I wouldnt say it’s normal… for you to have pain to where it’s so painful for u to eat. I would call the office where u had the root canal done.

My recommendation is salt and water wash in your mouth it will make the pain go away in about 5-10 mins
