My boyfriend has a root canal and he wants to know how he can numb or make it stop hurting it for a little until he goes to the dentist because it is bugging him…

Ice water or chew ice.
Assume you mean he is in intense pain and needs a root canal.
Happened to me a few times… as my dentist explained to me… the tooth is dying and the gas created inside is putting pressure on the nerve, hence the pain. By cooling the tooth, the gas pressure drops and so dies the pain.
He needs to chew ice and keep that tooth cool till he can see the dentist. I had strong pain killers like Oxycontin and Tylenol with Codeine. They did nothing for that pain! Just chewed ice all night long till I could see my dentist first thing in the morning.
My sympathies!

Pain medication such as Ibuprofen (up to 800mg or 4 tabs) for anti inflammation and anti pain. Also, antibiotics such as penicillin (has to be prescribed) to reduce the infection. If you put an aspirin on you gums, you will get an “aspirin burn.” Your gums will turn white and eventually slough off. The chemical name for aspirin is Acetylsalicylic acid. Acid burns.

Anbesol or clove oil directly on the painful area.
Do not, I repeat DO NOT, have him drink cold water or chew ice….there may be a bit of nerve the dentist missed and it will hurt terribly if exposed to cold.

Actually if u want to avoid root canal, it is easy to try kerosene oil with help of cotton.
just dip cotton in kerosene oil and and place it in ur mouth for two to three minutes, and repeat it four time in aday, for five days.
it will kill all the germs and u will never feel such pain again in ur life.

Just get an aspirin an sit it on the affected area and let it disolve.
That will be $180 please. And in a few mins he will be happy to give it to me.
PS: the pain will come back so get your arss off to the dentist.

has root canals?
every tooh has it’s own root canal…
are u referring to large caries(hole) on the tooth?
andfor ur knowledge, not all carious teeth (big hole) can be root canal treated.. depends on the size and the extension of the hole.. if it can’t be restored (the hole is too big) then the only treatment i would say is extraction
however..consult ur dentist..
for the pain..u can go to a pharmacy and ask for ibuprofen 400mg to be taken three times daily if needed
but for better result i would say buy diclofenac sodium 50mg as in books.. diclofenac is better for inflammation caused pain

Take some painkiller with anti-inflammatory action such as ibuprofen, and apply almond oil.
Do not expose teeth to extremes of temperature because nerve pain gets worse.
Hope this helps.
