So a root canal is needed when the tooth dies and becomes infected, is there any way to prevent this from happening?

Brush after every meal, floss twice a day, see a dentist twice a year. Even then, there are some people that don’t have fluoridated water or people that have naturally bad teeth. Sometimes it can’t be prevented. The only real alternative treatment when a root canal is needed is extraction.
