A little bit of whiskey or rum rubbed on the tooth will anesthetize the area – that’s what you do for babies teething. You could also crush an aspirin and do the same thing. Take some aspirin or ibuprofen when you go to bed, it will help you sleep.

If you have pure vanilla extract or clove oil available try this; place a cotton swab in one either the extract or the oil and rub it on the painful area. My 9 year old daughter just had a hideous toothache and the vanilla extract along with some Tylenol allowed her to get some rest. Hope this helps, as I’m not sure if there is anything worse than a toothache. Oh, and rinsing with salt water can help too. I also heard that something in coca-cola (the cola syrup) was used for years to help tooth pain. My husband swears by maximum strength Anbesol, which is over the counter.

Get some cotton and put some whiskey on it and bite down for a few minutes it will deaden the nerves. Or you could rinse your mouth out with salt water. Even some regular pain pills like aleve or ibuprofin could help.
The best thing for toothache is clove oil though and its always a good idea to keep some spare for occasions like these

Take two aspirin. Also douse the tooth with cold water. Then ry warm water. (If cold water woks, then the tooth is dead. If warm water woks then you have a cavity and the tooth is still alive.)
