will it look thinner or translucent? i don’t need a crown because it’s my front tooth that needs a root canal, and my dentist said all i would need after the treatment is a filling. should i avoid certain foods after getting it done?
yes, sometimes the took can discolor over time.
the tooth may appear nonvital or gray before and after a root canal.
Depending on whether there is enough natural enamel remaining, you may or may not need a crown.
Generally it will change appearance because it is dead after the root canal. It can take a while, but generally it has a greyish color and the structure is weaker.
You should probably avoid putting extreme stress on it,.. but there isn’t anything you can do to prevent the possible color change over time.
Your dentist should be able to answer your questions specifically. Worst case scenario, when it does change color you get a cap/crown placed on it.
