I have a wisdom tooth that has broken or chipped because of a cavity. I am scheduled to have them pulled next week but I am wondering will they be able to pull them without having to cut the gum because the tooth broke on one side? I guess I just wondered if they dentist will be able to grip the tooth without having to cut the gum down. I’m getting general/local anesthestics (sp) so I’m getting a little nervous about the possibility of them not being able to get the tooth out. LoL

yes they can, but they might have to cut into te gums to get to the root.

he will probably x ray to se it much better. I only had one wisdom tooth and it was wrapped around my jaw bone and pushed forward. They had to cut it out and crack it in half and do some drilling on my jaw bone some. It sounds awfull and it was painfull when the numbness wore off. but while under a procedure you only feel pressure like them pushing on you or whatever. No real pain. But when its over he should give you a good prescription of painkillers because it can be intense. But dont worry because leaving it in will only make it worse, get it over with.
Yes the dentist can pull your wisdom with out cutting into the gum( unless your tooth breaks and becomes surgical) they use something called a elevator( looks almost like an ice pick but not so sharp at the edge) that helps elevate the tooth up so that the dentist can get a better grip
Yes. I had a similar issue with a wisdom tooth. The dentist did a wonderful job with little discomfort.
To relieve your nerves, call the dentist office and ask a few questions.
