I must leave the country for several months right after the root canal. The doctor said it’s OK to fly right after this procedure, but how many months can I actually stay without risking to lose my tooth? Thanks!

Much depends on how much tooth is left after the root canal was done. If it had a very large filling in it, the tooth will be weaker and more apt to fracture. Usually it can be delayed for up to a year or two. Good luck John

Each case is different, but you should have the crown done within one year. Sooner is better, though. We always try to have the patient have it done within 6 months.
Since you are not able to do that, try to avoid chewing on that side and keep the area very clean with brushing and flossing.
Make your crown appointment as soon as you get back.
